Autobiographical Statement

As a licensed clinical social worker, I have provided mental health services to individuals and their families for 28 years. The major focus of my work has been with adults and their families in medical settings, including the Visiting Nursing Association, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, and Hospice. My volunteer experience includes providing telephone crisis counseling on the midnight to 8 a.m. shift at Crisis Services for 6 years. In addition to providing direct services to clients, I have also conducted support and educational groups for both clients and staff on subjects such as “Coping With Death and Loss”, “Improving Communication Skills”, and “Compassion Fatigue”.

When providing counseling services, it is my belief that providing a supportive, safe environment that focuses on an individual’s strengths as well as their areas of concern helps to facilitate growth and change. Overall I have an action-oriented, solution-based approach.

I specialize in the areas of grief and loss, end of life issues, communication skills and assertiveness training.
